The name Tana Bana Textile comes from ancient Sanskrit, where Tāna means “warp” threads, which run lengthwise on the loom, and Bāna means “weft” threads, which are woven horizontally through the warp the two threads that form the foundation of a woven fabric. This technique, deeply rooted in South Asian handloom traditions, has long been used to create textiles that are both unique and timeless.
